Backstory

Maxwell, born into a wealthy family of traders, became obsessed with the idea of becoming a powerful wizard from a young age. Throughout his time in Magicians School, Maxwell struggled to conjure the simplest of spells using his own spirit. His instructors eventually told him there was no hope. His body was not capable of producing enough aether to cast his magic naturally. His only option would be to conjure magic through the use of enchanted items, an option that was typically only available for the extremely wealthy. Fortunately for Maxwell, his father could easily afford many of these enchanted relics for Maxwell to use throughout his time in Magician's School.

Maxwell graduated from his schooling and was to be trained to become a Watcher for the Skyrilon royal family. A Watcher is a mage who uses enchanted crystals to watch a target at all times. These crystals can be attached to the person without them knowing, or be placed where they live, to track their every movement without any suspicion. All that is required is to look into a Watching Crystal with your spirit, and a vision of the location of another paired crystal will be revealed.

Maxwell's father wished to celebrate his son's success by taking Maxwell with him on a vacation to Cresminos, a nation across the sea from Skyrilon. Cresminos has remained a popular tourist destination for the extremely wealthy of Skyrilon; known for having unique food, curved architecture, and tanned, exotic looking men all around. Maxwell became enamored by all of these gorgeous, uniquely-Cresminosian men... and spent every amount of gold he could impressing them with wine, feasts of the most expensive food, and fancy gifts. He partied all night with them and would wake up with several in his bed in the morning. Eventually, all things come to an end, and Maxwell and his father set sail back to Skyrilon.

Days after, the relations between Skyrilon and Cresminos plummeted. Queen Mellanie Skyre, the mother of Prince Ivan Skyre II, had been assassinated. King Ivan immediately pointed the blame on Cresminos, despite no evidence at all. No one was allowed from or to Cresminos from that day forth, and all Cresminosian citizens were demanded to leave Skyrilon or they would be imprissoned.

Zade Elthund, one of the most wanted criminals in Skyrilon, and the leader of a group of theives and assassins, was one of several criminals blamed for the Queen's murder. He was ruthlessly interrogated, although it was eventually proven her wounds were made with magic, an ability Zade did not possess. Realizing Zade's talent for assassination, King Ivan demanded Zade work for him, or he would take his life. Zade unwillingly agreed, and began training to be King Ivan's personal assassin.

Due to the lack of trust in Zade, and with Cresminos being his home, King Ivan was still suspicious of Zade's intentions to serve him. Unknowing to Zade, he was assigned a Watcher. As such, all of Zade's equipment was paired with Watching Crystals, including the large Skyrilon insignia in the center of his chest armor, as well as all of his usual routine working routes. Maxwell was assigned his first job: Zade's Watcher. He was strictly prohibited to be seen anywhere near Zade. Zade must not know about Maxwell's existence entirely.

When Maxwell was given his assigned Watching Crystals, he activated them, and saw his first look at Zade Elthund. Immediately, his memories of his time in Cresminos were reminded, and it triggered in him his intense fetish for Cresminosian men. Maxwell was required to report to the king all of Zade's actions, where he walked, if he was fulfilling his orders and assassinating his proper targets. Maxwell watched him day in and day out, and could hardly focus on his work due to his complete infatuation with Zade. Maxwell's employer. Maxwell watches Zade's every move and reports it to King Ivan personally. The king has complete trust and faith in Maxwell, despite Maxwell's dishonesty on his reports. Still, Maxwell does not consider himself an enemy of Skyrilon and would never intentionally cause harm to the kingdom.

Zade Elthund

Maxwell's true love. He thinks of Zade day in and day out, required by his job to do nothing but watch his every move. He wishes more than anything that he could be with Zade, but knows Zade must never know of his very existence, as it would threaten the cover of Zade's monitoring.

Combat Ability

Maxwell is not trained in any sort of combat ability. He has lived a rich, pampered, lazy life of luxury and has never had to do much physical labor or fight in battles. His magic ability is completely reliant on the enchanted objects he is holding, meaning for him to cast any kind of destructive magic, he must be holding an object capable of those spells.
